I Kissed Dating Goodbye: A Call For Stories

I Kissed Dating Goodbye, we all know the book – we read it, our parents read it. It impacted our views of ourselves and our sexuality, it impacted our dating (or not-dating) lives, it impacted how we approached marriage. Recently Joshua Harris had an interview with NPR about his thoughts on the book, and how it’s been used. Claiming to have regrets, he is now collecting stories (and your permission to publish them) on his website.

Homeschooler’s Anonymous is taking part in a synchroblog series with the prompt of ‘How has I Kissed Dating Goodbye affected you and your life?’. This series will take a look at how this book, its use, and the culture in general affected you and your life.

Here are some story prompts for submissions:

Your courtship story – write a story about how your family enforced courtship, and how it affected you. Was it positive, or negative? Did you end up getting married?

What was learning how to date like after reading and following I Kissed Dating Goodbye?

What was the influence of I Kissed Dating Goodbye on your community, peers, and friends?

How did it affect your sex life?

Did it affect your friendships?

What about your views on gender roles?

How did it deal with consent? Or how did it not deal with consent?

As always, we would love to hear your story.

We are accepting stories this week, Aug 1, 2016 – Aug 6, 2016.

If you are interested in participating in this series, please email us at HA.EdTeam@gmail.com.

We take privacy seriously, and will happily make your submission anonymous at your request.
